GM Coastal Grill

Have you been to George Martin Coastal Grill (located at 40-42 East Park Ave in Long Beach) yet?  They are approaching their 3rd summer in the community and many would call them one of the go-to steak and seafood restaurants in Long Beach.  They received rave reviews in Newsday and the NY Times. They are often jammed on a wait and have live music most Fridays and Saturdays, and sometimes Thursdays.  1/2 priced bottles of wine on Wednesdays draw a crowd.  However, with the recent closing of Corbin & Reynolds and the economy being the way it is, people speculate, gossip and the like.  Recently the George Martin Restaurant Group issued this statement:

Ignore the rumors.  George Martin’s Coastal and Nick DiAngelo’s of Long Beach are NOT closing.  In fact, we have NEVER, ever considered such a fate.

In these tumultuous times gossip is sure to abound.  And as we are now finding, once a rumor gets started it takes on a life of its own and spreads like wild fire.

We can all attest that when the subject is “other guy” it’s easy to look away.  However, when it’s personal, when the barbs are pointed in your direction and the fates of our reputation and staff are imperiled without any basis in reality we have to address those rumors and nip them in the bud.  Frankly, we have no idea as to why these rumors have started, where they come from or why they are directed at us but the one thing we can say with complete conviction is that they are not true!

Suffice it to say that we love Long Beach and its residents who have supported us from the first day that we opened our doors and have welcomed us into your community with open arms.  We wish to thank each and every one of you that has taken the time to take us aside to express your continued support, affection and concern.  Believe it or not, it is those things that have touched us the most and which has been a source of gratification to our ownership, management and staff.

Rest assured, that it is our intention to reward that loyalty with our continued commitment to providing the best dining experience and value on the Island for decades to come.

George & Staff

So the bottom line is this – if you have never been to the Coastal Grill, go and try it.  And if you have, keep going.  Ignore the rumors.

I have eaten at the Coastal Grill on many occasions, as well as the other places they own. Honestly, the food is great. Everyone is so nice! I don’t plan on ever stopping going there 😉

I just happen to have been at Costal Grill this past week and I found that there has been an improvment in the food as well as the selection.. Good job.

I love Coastal. They have some of the best fish and steaks in town, and the prices are reasonable. I also go there on Wednesdays with my gf's for half off bottle of wine.

I've been here and I like it very much, my only problem is with the high prices. They once had some great specials for about $20.00, but the last 2 times I was in it seemed as if the prices have gone way up.
So I'll have to think about returning. Duke Falcon's, Paddy McGees, Coyote Grill, Minnesotas , The Cabana, and Sugo, are some of my favorites .
